A weekend standoff in Socorro ended with the arrest of a man who allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and used a large knife to assault her and another person, officials said.
Luis Angel Pasillas, 35, faces multiple charges after he was arrested by the Socorro Police Department’s Quick Reaction Force tactical team on Saturday, May 2, at a house in the 300 block of Flor Bonita Avenue, stated a Socorro city news release on Monday, May 4.
About 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Socorro police officers responding to a 911 call saw Pasillas was still inside the house and holding a knife after the ex-girlfriend and a male fled from the home and called for help.
An investigation later found Pasillas had allegedly broken into the residence while his ex-girlfriend was not home, police reported. When the woman returned, Pasillas allegedly used a knife to assault her and a male, forcing the woman to stay inside the house.
The male escaped and returned with another person, and the woman was then able to escape the home. As the woman and others fled down the block and called 911, Pasillas allegedly displayed a handgun, attempted to leave but then returned to the woman’s home, where police found him, police stated.
An hours-long standoff involving Socorro police armored vehicle and assistance from neighboring police and fire departments ended safely with Pasillas in custody.
Pasillas was arrested on charges of three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary of habitation, resisting arrest, unlawful restraint and violation of a protective order, El Paso County Jail records stated.
Pasillas remains at the Downtown jail held on a total bond of $125,000 as of Monday. He is assigned a public defense attorney not named on a courts log.
