As the Longhorns look to build their 2026 class, they have been connected to one of the top prospects available. On Wednesday, Sean Miller and the Longhorns offered big man Coleman Elkins. The talented forward has been a force in the paint during his high school career, and the Longhorns have taken notice.
Currently, the Longhorns’ competition includes Lehigh University, Northeastern University, the University of Maine, and Indiana State University. However, that could change over the next few weeks, the longer Elkins is available. Steve Sarkisian and his staff do have the advantage of being Elkins hometown team.
The heavy interest in Elkins comes as no surprise. During his high school career, the St. Andrew’s star has averaged 15 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Regardless of the opponent, he has been hard to stop and shown the ability to score in bunches. Those characteristics would make him a good addition to any program.
While Sean Miller and his staff have a lot of holes to fill, they have been connected to some of the best prospects on the market. That includes Taylor Kinney, Deron Rippey Jr., Junior County, Bo Ogden, Lucas Morillo, and Joe Sterling. Coming off a disappointing 2024-2025 campaign, Texas has cast a wide net to build a bright future.
Over the next few weeks, Texas will be a program to watch. Elkins has not set a visit to Austin, but that could change quickly. If the Longhorns can add him to the mix, then they will have one less position to worry about as they build a perennial contender.
