Longhorns basketball offers brother of QB Dia Bell

Another member of the Bell family could be on their way to the Forty Acres. On Wednesday, Longhorns basketball offered point guard Tai Bell, the brother of Longhorns QB Dia Bell. While a decision from Tai is still months away, head coach Sean Miller and his staff have made their interest clear.

Currently, the Mater Lakes Academy star is ranked as the third-best point guard in the 2027 class by 247Sports. They also rank Bell as the fourth-best player from Florida and the 25th-best player in the nation. That high praise is partly why the Longhorns are entering the recruiting battle early on.

While adding Bell to the mix would be a major boost for Texas, they do face competition. He has also received offers from Houston, Kansas State, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse, TCU, UNLV, and Old Dominion. That list should continue to grow the longer the talented point guard stays on the market.

Although the Longhorns have yet to land a commitment from a player in the 2027 class, they have been busy on the recruiting front. Miller and his staff have made offers to five-star recruits such as Beckham Black, Reese Alston, Justin Wise, Adan Diggs, Ryan Hampton, and Dawson Battie. Adding any of their players would give Texas a bright future.

Since taking over as the Longhorns’ head coach, Sean Miller has had success when landing elite recruits. His 2026 class includes highly rated prospects such as Joe Sterling, Bo Ogden, and Austin Goosby. He has also proven he can land elite talent through the transfer portal, with Dailyn Swain as a prime example.

As Bell’s recruitment ramps up, Texas will be a program to watch. The football program has already landed one Bell, and now the basketball program is looking to have the same claim.
