Another week of high school football will kick off in the Texas Panhandle on Thursday night, with a handful of games around the Amarillo area.
Following an entertaining Week 4 slate, Week 5 begins district play for multiple Class 5A programs in the region. Plainview welcomes Lubbock-Cooper to town, while Amarillo High and Monterey clash on Thursday at Dick Bivins Stadium.
Tascosa travels to Lubbock for a showdown with Coronado, and Caprock meets Abilene High at home. Other districts in the Texas Panhandle will begin league play in the coming weeks, but this Thursday and Friday should feature a few intriguing non-district matchups, as well.
Panhandle travels to Wellington for a showdown between two of the top Class 2A opponents in the area. Both teams are fresh off big wins and should have plenty of momentum heading into Friday night’s game.
Elsewhere, Stratford will make a trek to the Hub City for a contest with Trinity Christian, while Childress takes on Wichita Falls City View at home.
