Jonah Williams back at practice, hopefully making his debut this weekend

Texas heads into week two against San Jose State hoping to get on track, and allow young guys to get their first snaps. Now, that includes someone Texas fans have been excited to see for quite some time, Jonah Williams. Williams is finally back at practice this week, and it looks like we could see him on the field as early as this weekend.

This is a big time boost to the young group for the Longhorns, especially on the backend. Williams is a very talented player, and someone that Texas fans have wanted to see since he made his debut on the diamond. He is someone that figures to factor into the rotations at safety, and can hopefully make a strong first impression this weekend.

It’s hard to know how much we will get to see Williams this weekend, but it’s finally a possibility to see the two-sport athlete on the field this weekend. That goes along with the other freshmen, like Nick Brooks and Kaliq Lockett, that are likely to get reps for the first time this weekend as well.

Williams is someone Sarkisian and company fully expect to be a big time player for them moving forward. This weekend, it’s about getting him on the field, and allowing him to show his upside on the defensive side. The former five-star has struggled with injuries throughout his football career, including missing half of his senior season in high school. This could lead to Texas being cautious with him, but there should be an opening to get him reps in this game.

Jonah Williams can be one of the biggest playmakers for this Texas defense, and really the Texas team moving forward. Hopefully we will get to see him make some of those plays tomorrow, but more than anything, it will be nice to see #9 on the field for the first time in the burnt orange.

This weekend, Longhorn fans will get to see multiple new players get their first chance. Jonah Williams could very well be the #1 freshman that Texas fans are most excited to watch. We have seen his talent on the baseball diamond, now we will get a chance to see what he can do on the gridiron.
