Here's why Hillcrest is fighting back against Inner Harbor desal

As city of Corpus Christi officials prepare to again consider moving forward with the Inner Harbor desalination plant, residents of the nearby Hillcrest neighborhood are organizing to continue their fight against it.

Residents and advocates say the facility would potentially threaten not only the environment, but also the wellbeing of those who live in the historically Black and Hispanic subdivision.

City staff have disagreed, saying it is not expected the plant would negatively impact quality of life and that there have been recent and ongoing improvements to the area, such as a $30 million investment in area parks.

Here’s a video breaking down the concerns raised by residents and neighborhood supporters.
