Social media reacts to USC eliminating Texas A&M in regional final

It was another disappointing outing from Texas A&M against USC on Monday night, as the Trojans eliminated the Aggies with a 7-1 win in the College Station Regional Final at Blue Bell Park.

In one of his longest starts to date, right-hander Clayton Freshcorn provided a solid outing for the Maroon and White. Before giving up a three-run home run in the seventh inning, Freshcorn held the Trojans to just two earned runs on six hits. After he was pulled, Shane Sdao gave up two more runs, as USC went on to claim its first regional final in 21 years.

While the pitching woes continued to be a struggle for Texas A&M on Monday night, the lineup was anything but its normal self. The Aggies entered the postseason ranked third in the SEC with a .301 team batting average and second with 114 home runs. That success did not carry over into the regional final, however. The lineup produced just four runs through two games, while USC recorded 21 to advance to a showdown against North Carolina in Chapel Hill next weekend.

There are many questions and concerns swirling around the program entering the offseason, mainly regarding Jason Kelly’s seat as the pitching coach after a lackluster management throughout the year. As he prepares to enter his third season at the helm, head coach Michael Earley has some major decisions to make this offseason.
