Water levels at Lake Corpus Christi are now measuring higher than they have since at least a year ago.
About 12 months ago, its capacity was about 22%, and it dwindled over the course of the year to as low as 9% three months ago, according to state data.
As of June 23, it was recorded at about 30%, it shows.
While that doesn’t mean the city will be emerging from Stage 3 drought, it has meant that a timeline for a potential water emergency has been pushed back again, this time by about nine months.
As of June 23, city officials were projecting the potential for a water emergency in September 2027.
