For the second straight season, the Gordon Longhorns’ baseball team will play its final game of the year in the UIL baseball state title game.
The Longhorns (23-4) will look to bring another state title home to Gordon when they square off against the Groveton Centerville Bulldogs (23-1) in the Class 1A UIL Baseball State Championship game with first pitch scheduled for noon on Saturday, June 6, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
Both Gordon and Groveton Centerville will be looking to bring home their first UIL baseball state championships in school history.

Gordon vs Groveton Centerville – Class 1A UIL Baseball State Championship live updates
2:35 p.m. — Groveton Centerville defeats Gordon 2-0 in the Class 1A UIL Baseball State Championship game.
2:34 p.m. — Kolt Larsen notches his 11th strikeout of the day, breaking the UIL 1A state title game record, to secure the final out of the game.
2:32 p.m. — Gordon’s Corvin Seymour hits a line drive single into right field with one out, but a fielder’s choice in the following at-bat leaves Jasper Clark at first base for the Longhorns with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
2:30 p.m. — Kolt Larsen joins Gordon’s Shank in tying the UIL’s single-game strikeout record (10) in a Class 1A UIL state title game by notching his tenth punch out of the day in the first at-bat of the bottom of the seventh inning.
2:26 p.m. — Drew Larsen hits a leadoff single to start the top of the seventh inning, but Stryker Reed retires the next three Bulldogs’ batters in order for Gordon to end the inning. Groveton Centerville holds onto a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh inning.
2:12 p.m. — The Longhorns land a runner on base after a leadoff walk to start the bottom of the sixth inning, but a quick double play on a hard-hit line drive up the middle of the infield helps the Bulldogs escape without any damage. Groveton Centerville leads Gordon 2-0 heading to the seventh inning of the 1A UIL state title game.
2:04 p.m. — Gordon’s Stryker Reed moves from center field to take Shank’s spot on the mound as the Longhorns’ relief pitcher and gets an inning-ending pop fly to right field on his first pitch. Groveton Centerville holds onto a 2-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning.
2:01 p.m. — Shank records his ninth and tenth strikeouts of the game, tying UIL record for most strikeouts (10) in a 1A state title game before hitting his pitch limit for the day. Gordon’s ace ends his day on the mound with 10 punch outs, five hits, four walks and two earned runs allowed through 5⅔ innings pitched.
1:54 p.m. — Kolt Larsen notches back-to-back strikeouts and then induces an inning-ending groundball to first base to help the Bulldogs escape another sticky situation. Gordon leaves runners stranded at first and second base, as Groveton Centerville leads 2-0 at the end of the fifth inning.
1:47 p.m. — Jasper Clark draws a full-count walk to put runners at first and second base for Gordon with the top of the lineup coming up to bat with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
1:45 p.m. — Gordon’s Jaedon Dixon hits a leadoff single on a line drive into right field on the first pitch of the bottom of the fifth inning, bringing the potential game-tying run to the plate for the Longhorns with no outs.
1:40 p.m. — Shank records his seventh and eighth strikeouts of the game to end the top of the fifth inning with back-to-back punchouts. Gordon escapes a bases-loaded jam unscathed, but trails Groveton Centerville 2-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth.
1:35 p.m. — A successful double steal by the Bulldogs gives Groveton Centerville runners at second and third base, and then a hit-by-pitch loads the bases with one out during the top of the fifth inning.
1:23 p.m. — Kolt Larsen pitches out of another jam for Groveton Centerville after a leadoff single and a walk gave Gordon runners at first and second base with no outs. Larsen then struck out two of the next three Longhorns’ hitters to escape the bottom of the fourth inning unscathed. Gordon stranded runners at second and third base to end the frame trailing 2-0.
1:12 p.m. — Shank helps the Longhorns escape another two-out jam by running down and tagging out Groveton Centerville’s Eli Emmons, who got caught in a pickle between first and second base after Shank made a pick-off throw attempt. The Bulldogs leave a runner stranded at third base, but still hold a 2-0 lead over Gordon midway through the fourth inning.
1:01 p.m. — Kolt Larsen pitches out of a jam for the Bulldogs during the bottom of the third inning, recording his fourth and fifth strikeouts of the game. Gordon leaves a runner stranded at second base and trails 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth.
12:59 p.m. — Shank ropes a line-drive single into the gap between center and left field, giving the Longhorns their first base hit of the game with two outs in the bottom of the third inning.
12:50 p.m. — Shank retired the side for the Longhorns during the top of the third inning, notching his fifth and sixth strikeouts of the game. Groveton Centerville left a runner stranded at second base, but the Bulldogs hold onto a 2-0 lead over Gordon heading to the bottom of the third.
12:39 p.m. — Brayden Walters drew a four-pitch walk to lead off the bottom of the second inning and swiped second base to give Gordon its first stolen base of the game. Groveton Centerville’s Kolt Larseb pitched out of a jam, though, and the Longhorns left a runner stranded at third base trailing the Bulldogs 2-0 heading to the top of the third.
12:31 p.m. — Gordon’s Aiden Shank started to find a groove on the mound during the top of the second inning. He issued one walk and notched his second, third and fourth strikeouts of the game to keep the score 2-0 Groveton Centerville heading to the bottom of the second.
12:21 p.m. — Gordon’s Noah Kostiha drew a full-count walk to give the Longhorns’ their first baserunner of the day. But the Bulldogs gunned down Kostiha while he was trying to steal second base, and the first inning ends with Groveton Centerville leading Gordon 2-0.
12:12 p.m. — Groveton Centerville’s Wyatt Clede hit a line drive double into left field with two outs that put runners at second and third base. Chris Fry then hit a bloop single behind shortstop and center field that drove in two runs, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at the end of the top of the first inning.
11:32 a.m. — Updated first pitch time announced at Dell Diamond. Gordon and Groveton Centerville will begin at 12:10 p.m.
7:30 a.m. — Starting lineups are set. Here is the pitching matchup for today’s game: Aiden Shank (Gordon) vs. Kolt Larsen (Groveton Centerville).
7:37 p.m. (Friday, June 5) — Gordon and Groveton Centerville will begin the 1A state title game with the first pitch tentatively scheduled for noon at Round Rock’s Dell Diamond. If the postponed 5A DII state title game runs late, Gordon and Groveton Centerville will start 40 minutes after the end of the preceding UIL state title game.
7:30 p.m. (Friday, June 5) — The 5A DII UIL Baseball State Championship game between Sharyland and Lucas Lovejoy has been postponed and rescheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, delaying the start times of Saturday’s scheduled Class 1A, 6A DI and 6A DII state title games.
6:59 p.m. (Friday, June 5) — The Class 5A Division I UIL Baseball State Championship game enters a weather delay. Aledo leads Montgomery Lake Creek 1-0 with no outs in the top of the third inning.
