Caitlin Clark exited the Indiana Fever’s Wednesday night loss against the Phoenix Mercury in the third quarter with a back injury and did not return.
Clark, 24, has been battling a back injury throughout this WNBA season. The third-year Fever guard missed Indiana’s May 20 matchup against the Portland Fire after she was ruled out late with a back injury. Since, Clark has been listed on Indiana’s next 13 day-before injury reports as probable (back).
Clark hasn’t missed another game until now.
Fever head coach Stephanie White confirmed on Friday afternoon to reporters that Clark has been ruled out of Saturday evening’s matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks.
“She’s OK. She’s gonna be out on Saturday, but she’s doing alright,” White said.
After Saturday against the Sparks, the Fever get more than a week off before their next game on Sunday, July 5. White said there’s no current timetable for Clark’s return.
“No indication (of how long she’ll be out). Obviously, it’s a good time because we have all week next week. So, we’ll take this opportunity just to get her treatment, get her healthy, get her back on the floor and see what happens. It’s the same thing. Long-term health and wellness is the most important thing,” White said.
