Former Wichita Falls hospital becomes site of emergency exercise

The former Kell West Hospital has become a training ground for first responders with an exercise starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Wichita Falls Police Department said in a Facebook post early Wednesday that it will conduct a training accident at the site.

“You will see a large number of emergency vehicles, police officers, firefighters, and you may hear simulated emergency sounds,” the post said.

WFPD said neighboring medical office buildings will not be affected, and emergency services to the city will not be affected.

Kell West Hospital announced in October 2025 it would close after 25 years in operation. United Regional Health Care System acquired the property.
