Former Texas A&M LHP finds new home for 2027 season

Texas A&M pitcher Michael “MJ” Bollinger Jr. has officially found his next stop after leaving the Aggies during the season and entering the transfer portal. On Saturday, Bollinger announced via social media that he is headed to the East Coast, committing to the UConn Huskies for the 2027 campaign.

Bollinger’s time in College Station never truly materialized. Despite arriving with meaningful experience and a strong resume, he appeared in just one game for the Aggies. A surprising development given how early A&M lost several veteran arms and struggled with pitching depth throughout the season.

Before transferring to Texas A&M, Bollinger posted a 2.01 ERA and a 3–3 record across 28 appearances at Florida Atlantic. He previously dominated at the junior‑college level, recording a 1.36 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 33 innings, numbers that suggested he could compete for innings immediately in the SEC.

Yet for reasons that remain unclear, Bollinger never broke into the rotation or earned consistent opportunities, even as less‑experienced pitchers logged more innings. His departure midseason raised eyebrows, but both sides reportedly parted on good terms.

Now, Bollinger will get a fresh opportunity to reestablish himself as a reliable contributor when he takes the mound for the Huskies. With his experience and track record, UConn could provide the reset he needs to once again showcase his value.
