El Paso police are seeking a group of at least three people involved in an early morning burglary of a gas station convenience store in the far East Side last month.
The burglary occurred at 3:50 a.m. on May 31 at the Howdy’s Chevron at 1130 Joe Battle Blvd. by Rojas Drive, said Crime Stoppers of El Paso, which is featuring the case as the Crime of the Week.
Security camera video released by Crime Stoppers shows two unidentified men in black masks and hoods walk up to the door of the closed store. One of the burglars repeatedly pulls on the doors until forcing them open.
One burglar wore a black mask with a white hooded jacket with a black logo on the back and on the shoulders, blue jeans and black shoes. The second burglar had red sneakers, a black mask, a white hooded jacket and black pants.
The burglar with red sneakers waits by the door while the other runs inside and grabs a pair of six-packs of bottled alcoholic drinks before running out, when he appears to accidentally drop one of the packs, which shatters on the ground, according to the security camera video.
Investigators suspect that at least three people were involved in the burglary, including a getaway driver, possibly driving a gray Dodge Magnum last seen eastbound on Rojas Drive, Crime Stoppers liaison Sgt. Javier Sambrano said.
Anyone with information on the burglary may anonymously call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at cselpaso.org. Tipsters could be eligible for a cash reward if information leads to an arrest.
