Abilene Christian University has announced Jo Koons has resigned from her position after two years as the Wildcats’ head softball coach.
In two seasons at the helm for ACU, Koons led the Wildcats to a 22-79 overall record on the softball diamond.
“We appreciate Coach Koons’ service and commitment to ACU during her time leading our softball program. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her nothing but success in her next chapter,” ACU vice president for athletics Zach Lassiter said in a written statement.
“Our focus now turns to conducting a comprehensive national search to identify the next leader of ACU softball. We are committed to finding a coach who will compete for championships and help our student-athletes reach their potential in the classroom while living up to the mission of ACU to prepare students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world.”
The Wildcats recently wrapped up their 2026 season after finishing 7-41 overall and 4-14 against Western Athletic Conference competition.
