Rain and wind are heading into the Borderland region.
El Paso has a 70% chance of rain showers on Tuesday, March 10, most likely in the evening hours. Breezy conditions are also expected by the afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Parts of Southern New Mexico, including Las Cruces, Deming and Hatch, also have good chances of rain.
Temperatures will also be five to 12 degrees below normal, the National Weather Service added. The high temperature in El Paso is forecast to be a cool 65 degrees.
The wet weather will be short-lived — with rain expected to move out by Wednesday, March 11. Temperatures will also warm back into the 70s before soaring into the 80s by the weekend.
Warm, dry weather expected next week
Temperatures will continue to be above normal, and conditions will be dry in mid-March, according to a weather map outlook from March 16-22 released by the National Weather Service. The average temperature high for March is typically 72 degrees, and El Paso is already expected to reach a near 90-degree temperature high by Saturday, March 14.
Rain chances are also expected to be below normal.
