Cowboys Headlines: New injury scare for DeMarvion Overshown; Dak gets fans' frustration

With the Cowboys’ Week 9 game slated for Monday, the team is off their usual routine by one day. They may need it to iron out some of the uncertainties that surrounded Thursday’s practice. While center Cooper Beebe was a full participant and looks to be ready to return, it was feared linebacker DeMarvion Overshown might have suffered a setback when he left the field early. Turns out he’s fine after getting minor attention to a hand/finger. And while cornerback Trevon Diggs may have cleared some stage of the concussion protocol enough to be back at work, he’s still on injured reserve for several more games.

The trade deadline continues to loom. Whether the Cowboys should spend draft picks now on proven veteran talent may depend on how you feel they’ve done lately using their picks instead on collegiate prospects. One rumor has Dallas going after Dolphins pass rusher Jaelen Phillips… but there are several current Cowboys with expiring deals who might bring a nice price if the club decided to be sellers. George Pickens is at the top of that list, but CeeDee Lamb wants to keep the current WR tandem intact.

Jerry Jones has made waves in an interview by casting the Cowboys as just a minor concern when compared with his newest $100 billion business venture. Fans are upset at the implication. Dak Prescott says he understands how the quote sounds but wants to give his boss the benefit of the doubt.

In Arizona, there may be controversy around Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. On the one hand, the team says they’re prepping for him to reclaim his starting spot… but then they mysteriously cancelled the media’s access to him and promised only “a quarterback” later in the week. Cowboys OC Klayton Adams knows from his time in the desert that Budda Baker will pose a significant challenge to his new offense, and the Cardinals may not be the easy win you think they are… at least when it comes to playing the Cowboys in recent years.

Around the league, the Seahawks are working to create a new “Legion of Boom” in time for their rematch with Dan Quinn. Kirk Cousins has requested a trade out of Atlanta, and Aaron Rodgers was reportedly hitting up Packers players in between snaps last week, trying to drum up a buyer for his home back in Green Bay. He even laid his sales pitch on Micah Parsons in the middle of a dominant performance that sealed Defensive Player of the Month honors for the former Cowboy.
