Texas A&M HC Trisha Ford and players speak after Mississippi State series

Texas A&M softball is playing its best ball of the season, and the results keep stacking up. The Aggies capped another impressive weekend with a gritty sweep of Mississippi State, rallying from an early six‑run deficit in Game 3 to secure their fifth SEC series win, three of them sweeps.

Nothing is locked in yet, but this latest sweep puts the Aggies in a strong position to host a regional at Davis Diamond. Their résumé is building exactly the way they hoped. Consistent SEC wins, quality performances, and only one series loss a road matchup at Texas where the first two games slipped away by a single run before A&M took the finale.

Where they stand now is right in line with what head coach Trisha Ford envisioned. A pitching coach by trade, Ford still wants more from her rotation, but she’s seeing a team that competes, responds, and refuses to fold.

“I think this is who we are. I think we fight. You know, we’ve talked about that over and over. It’s something that I take a lot of pride in. Every program that I’ve been a part of, like you do not hold your breath, you hold your breath, I should say, until the last out and that’s why I feel like we’re the Fighting Texas Aggies.” – Coach Trisha Ford

Two players who delivered in Sunday’s comeback were Mya Perez and Paislie Allen. Perez, one of the best hitters in the country, continues to adjust to teams pitching around her. When she finally got something, she could drive, she didn’t miss.

“First pitch I was like, “Oh, dang.” Like I should have swing at that. But then I was like I was like, “You know what? This one I’m just really going to let rip hit something hard. Hit a line drive somewhere.” So. I mean I wasn’t trying to hit a home run. I was just trying to hit something hard line drive.” – Mya Perez

Allen, a sophomore who has been in and out of the lineup, showed exactly why the staff believes in her versatility and upside. She’s finding her rhythm at the plate and proving she can impact the game in multiple ways.

” I think I’ve just struggled with my pitch selection. So just making sure I get in the cages, work on that, and come back out.” – Paislie Allen

The Aggies are finally stringing together complete performances. Timely hitting, resilient pitching, and a lineup that’s learning how to win in different ways. Ford’s group is showing the identity she’s been preaching since January. Tough, competitive, and built for late‑season momentum.
