It’s an important season for the Dallas Cowboys and head coach Brian Schottenheimer. After a solid first season at the helm and a good offseason, the expectations for the team are rising, which has led to a drastic measure. The Cowboys leader isn’t just worried about Xs and Os, physical attributes and things of the three dimensions. No, he’s also worried about the fourth dimension, and is looking to maximize the amount of time he can spend on the job.
To be closer to the Cowboys’ facility, Schottenheimer is selling his house to cut down on the commute. Schottenheimer put his house on the market last month and it’s already been sold, so he’ll soon be closer than the 30-minute drive that was deemed too long.
Just where Schottenheimer is moving to and how close it will be to work is unknown but hopefully, he’ll have better luck at his new place. In his former house, Schottenheimer’s dogs were bitten by snakes, and an owl made its way into the home, so perhaps he was ready to move to a place that isn’t as close to nature.
The phrasing of Schottenheimer’s relocation does seem odd though, as there’s always an expectation for the Cowboys to win. With eternal optimist owner and general manager Jerry Jones at the helm, the team anticipates making a Super Bowl run every season, while many fans and media analysts praise the team annually say ‘it’s the Cowboys’ year.’
Dallas’ NFC championship and Super Bowl drought, coupled with Jones’ age, makes every year a critical one for the Cowboys. The pressure is always there for America’s Team, and the expectations are always high.
In a sport where coaches look for any advantage they can get, Schottenheimer is trying to find one by measuring time. The more time he’s got at the office, the more time he’ll be able to concentrate on the task of bringing the Cowboys another Lombardi Trophy.
At this point, anything is worth a shot!
