More than 300 people held signs, chanted and stood in solidarity at a protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at Water’s Edge Park on Jan. 31.
The gathering was one of many across the nation that were critical of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement actions. The protest also came a week after federal immigration agents fatally shot Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. National Nurses United held a candlelight vigil for Pretti earlier in the week at Doctors Regional Medical Center.
At the downtown protest, a handful of counterprotesters made themselves known by driving by yelling vulgarities, waving flags in support of President Donald Trump and booing the large crowd.
