Corpus Christi police investigate fatal Westside stabbing

A man died from a stabbing on July 16 that occurred in the 1700 block of 18th Street, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department. 

Officers received a report of a stabbing at 9:45 p.m. and discovered a 56-year-old man with a stab wound when they arrived, an online post said.

Officers immediately administered first aid until emergency personnel arrived at the scene. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. 

A person was detained by officers at the scene and taken to the police station for an interview. 

Detectives with the police department’s robbery and homicide division were also called to the scene.

The people involved knew each other and the stabbing is an isolated incident, the department said. 

No arrests had been made as of the morning of July 17.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
