Nayeli Rodriguez's WIBA title shot on the line at El Paso County Coliseum

El Paso pro boxer Nayeli Rodriguez is never one to back down from a challenge.

At the El Paso County Coliseum, Rodriguez (7-1-1) on Saturday, July 18, will fight Katherine Lindenmuth (8-5-1) for the Women’s International Boxing Association flyweight title. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds and is one of eight fights on the Kings Promotions card.

“She’s aggressive, she comes forward and she’s got a lot of hunger and dedication,” said the 24-year-old Rodriguez of her opponent. “It’s going to be a great fight. I’m ready, I’m focused and camp went well.”

Rodriguez has had quality wins vs. Alexis Araiza Monesa and Maryguenn Vellinga and a draw with Natalie Dove.

“Nayeli is working hard and she’s really focused for this fight,” said her father and trainer Jose Rodriguez. “She’s really excited for this fight and she is feeling strong.”

Unbeaten Jorge Tovar faces stiff challenge

Tovar, who is 14-0 with 10 knockouts, will fight Ulises Tovar Rivera, who is 12-5 with seven knockouts, in an eight-round middleweight fight.

“I’m confident going into the fight. I had a great camp, I think my best pro camp ever,” Tovar said.

Unbeaten Dominic Barry in a big fight

Barry, who fights in the cruiserweight division and who is 10-0-1 with 10 knockouts, will face Kevin Gustavo Brizuela of Argentina, who is 9-4 with six knockouts.

“My opponent is tough and I look forward to this challenge,” Barry said. “I’m still growing, still learning as a fighter.”
