Corpus Christi police arrested a man on July 21 in relation to the fatal Westside stabbing of 56-year-old Jose Davila on July 16.
Robbery and homicide detectives identified 34-year-old Jerry Lee Alvarez as the offender, the police department announced in an online post.
Detectives obtained a warrant for arrest on the charge of murder and apprehended Alvarez at his residence in Corpus Christi, according to court records.
The U.S. Marshals Service and the Corpus Christi Police Department gang and K-9 units assisted in the arrest.
Alvarez was taken into custody for questioning and processed into the Nueces County Jail, where he was being held as of July 22 on $1 million bail, according to jail records.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
