In drought, residents have prayed for rain — and now are praising God for the storms that dramatically rose the waters of Lake Corpus Christi.
Nearly 100 people congregated in Cole Park on July 8 for a citywide prayer service led by about one dozen faith leaders from a spectrum of denominations, both celebrating the recent rains and appealing for more in the future.
As part of the gathering, small plastic containers of water from Lake Corpus Christi were prepared for attendants. They were blessed by a Catholic priest.
