From super consistent slappers and dominant pitchers to high-impact power hitters and elite defenders, the Big Country’s 2026 Texas high school softball season was defined by playmakers who delivered when it mattered most.
Several Big Country squads advanced far into the postseason on deep playoff runs, while many of the area’s top high school softball players also stood out on the diamond and left their mark with spectacular individual seasons.
The Abilene Reporter-News recognizes the area’s top players, coaches and teams from the 2026 season with our All-Big Country High School Softball Super Team.
Super Team selections were determined through a combination of coach nominations, statistics, all-district honors and team success.
Here’s a complete look at the Big Country and greater Abilene area’s top standouts who earned all-area honors and spots on the Abilene Reporter-News 2026 All-Big Country Softball Superteam:
2026 All-Big Country Softball – Superlative Awards
MVP – CF Addi Hart, Coahoma, Sr.
Hart was the most valuable player on the Big Country’s best team, earning TGCA and TSWA All-State honors after helping Coahoma reach the UIL state title game for the fifth consecutive season. She was a consistent tone-setter as the leadoff hitter in the Bulldogettes’ explosive lineup, hitting .622 with 70 runs scored, 46 RBIs, 16 doubles, 10 home runs, two triples and a 1.882 OPS. She was also an elite defender in centerfield with a powerful arm as well as an aggressive baserunner, racking up 31 stolen bases.
Offensive Player of the Year – 1B Janinah “Jojo” Gonzalez, Big Spring, Jr.
Gonzalez separated herself as one of West Texas’ premier power hitters during a standout 2026 campaign in which she secured first team all-district honors in District 5-4A. She also helped the Lady Steers reach the area round of the 4A DI UIL Softball Playoffs as one of the most dangerous bats amid the heart of Big Spring’s talented lineup. Gonzalez racked up a .461 batting average and 1.580. OPS with 53 RBIs, 33 runs scored, 13 home runs, six doubles and seven stolen bases.
Defensive Player of the Year – C Bayleigh Alderete, Snyder, So.
Alderete followed up a breakout freshman season for the Lady Tigers with a TGCA All-State recognition during a superb sophomore campaign for Snyder. She hit .455 with 36 RBIs, 16 doubles, six home runs and two triples to help the Lady Tigers secure the District 5-4A championship. She also was also the Big Country’s most elite defensive player in 2026 after throwing out 23 runners attempting to steal as Snyder’s starting catcher.
Pitcher of the Year – P Avah Reyes, Abilene High, Sr.
Reyes was one of the driving forces behind Abilene High’s deepest postseason runs in school history after her poise in the circle helped the Lady Eagles advance to the regional finals of the 5A DI UIL Softball Playoffs. She received District 4-5A Pitcher of the Year honors and a TGCA All-State selection after posting a 20-8 record in the circle with a 2.36 ERA and 200 strikeouts in 154 innings pitched. She also excelled offensively, batting .338 with 16 RBIs, two doubles, a triple and two runs scored for Abilene High.
Newcomer of the Year – P/UTL Brynli Reynolds, Clyde, Fr.
Few players in the history of Big Country-area high school softball have enjoyed as dominant of a debut season at the varsity level as Reynolds. The Lady Bulldogs’ ace was electric in the circle throughout a phenomenal freshman year at Clyde, tallying an 18-4 record, a 0.69 ERA and 333 strikeouts in 141⅔ innings pitched. Reynolds also posted a .537 batting average and a 1.647 OPS with 33 RBIs, 13 runs scored, 12 doubles, six home runs, a triple and one stolen base offensively.
Coach of the Year – Kevin Hearne, Cisco
Hearne takes home All-Big Country Softball Coach of the Year honors after guiding Cisco to its best season in school history. Under Hearne’s leadership, the Lady Loboes went undefeated in District 7-2A to capture a district title. Cisco then rattled off series wins against Hawley, Forsan, Abernathy and Floydada, as the Lady Loboes battled their way to the state semifinals of the 2A DI UIL Softball Playoffs.

All-Big Country Softball – First Team
Pitcher – Sydnee Gomez, Snyder, Jr.
Gomez was named District 5-4A’s Pitcher of the Year and earned TGCA All-State honors after the Lady Tigers’ ace registered a 12-3 record in the circle with 137 strikeouts and a 2.09 ERA through 70 innings pitched. She also chipped in offensively during Snyder’s district title run by hitting .429 with 45 RBIs, 18 doubles, nine home runs and a triple.
Pitcher – Aubrey Corpus, Cisco, Sr.
Corpus was one of the Big Country’s most reliable arms in the circle and a huge reason why the Lady Loboes reached the state semifinals of the 2A DI UIL playoffs for the first time in program history. Cisco’s ace received both the District 7-2A Pitcher of the Year award and a TGCA All-State nod after tallying a 3.48 ERA and 192 strikeouts in 212⅓ innings pitched while also hitting .425 with 57 RBIs, 14 runs scored, 18 doubles, four home runs, one triple and a 1.101 OPS.
Pitcher – McKinley Crouch, Merkel, Fr.
Crouch — District 6-3A’s Newcomer of the Year — dominated in the circle by posting an 8-4 record with a 2.40 ERA and 239 strikeouts through 131 innings pitched to help the Lady Badgers reach the area round of the 3A DII UIL Softball Playoffs.
Catcher – Analia Hinojosa, Big Spring, Jr.
Hinojosa was recognized with the District 5-4A Offensive MVP award after hitting .670 with 52 RBIs, 52 runs scored, 24 doubles, seven home runs, three triples, 18 stolen bases and a 1.896 OPS.
First Base – Ella Aviles, Snyder, Jr.
Aviles was a huge part of the Lady Tigers’ prolific offense, hitting .429 with 45 runs scored, 39 RBIs, 13 doubles, nine home runs, 14 stolen bases and a 1.246 OPS for the District 5-4A champs.
Second Base – Blakely Rodgers, Coahoma, So.
Rodgers excelled as a defensive anchor up the middle of Coahoma’s defense and a consistent hitter at the top of the Bulldogettes’ lineup too. She tallied a .508 batting average and a 1.809 OPS with 45 RBIs, 45 runs scored, 11 doubles, 10 home runs, two triples and 16 stolen bases.
Shortstop – AJ Pevey, Cisco, So.
Pevey cemented herself as one of the Big Country’s most talented shortstops in 2026 by leading the Lady Loboes to the 2A DI state semifinals. She collected TGCA All-State honors and District 7-2A’s Offensive MVP award after hitting .500 with 56 RBIs, 49 runs scored, 18 doubles, nine home runs, five triples, nine stolen bases and a 1.557 OPS,
Third Base – Hadley Sanders, Tuscola Jim Ned, Jr.
Sanders was named the District 6-3A Co-Offensive MVP after hitting .527 with 40 runs scored, 25 RBIs, 10 doubles, seven triples, three home runs, a 1.566 OPS and a .967 fielding percentage to help Jim Ned reach the regional finals of the 3A DI UIL Softball Playoffs.
Outfield – Brieyonna Reed, Abilene High, Sr.
Reed was honored as the District 4-5A MVP and a TGCA All-State pick after hitting .451 – tying the Lady Eagles’ single-season hits record (55) — with a school-record 61 stolen bases, 42 runs scored, 12 RBIs, two doubles, a triple, a home run and a .941 OPS during Abilene High’s run to the 5A DI regional finals.
Outfield – Gabby Cabrera, Tuscola Jim Ned, So.
Cabrera netted District 6-3A MVP honors for her stellar performance during the Lady Indians’ run to the 3A DI regional finals, hitting .558 with a 1.603 OPS, 57 runs scored, 35 RBIs, 31 stolen bases, 22 doubles and four triples.
Outfield – Lea Aviles, Snyder, Jr.
Aviles was named District 5-4A’s Offensive MVP after posting a .482 batting average and a 1.312 OPS with 55 runs scored, 24 stolen bases, 17 RBIs, nine doubles, seven triples and a home run to help the Lady Tigers win a district title.
Outfield – Ary’anna Mealing, Forsan, Sr.
Mealing was tabbed the District 5-2A Offensive MVP after hitting .524 with 44 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 14 doubles and six triples during Forsan’s run to the area round of the 2A DI playoffs.
Designated Player – Mikaelynn Miles, Hico, Sr.
Miles hit .514 batting average with a 1.426 OPS, 34 RBIs, 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs and nine stolen bases to help Hico win District 15-2A and reach the area round of the 2A DII playoffs. She also tallied a 15-5 record in the circle with a 3.11 ERA and 105 strikeouts through 115⅔ innings pitched for the Lady Tigers.
Utility – Kenzie McLean, Cross Plains, Fr.
McLean delivered in the circle with an 11-4 record, a 1.27 ERA and 246 strikeouts through 110⅓ innings pitched as an invaluable part of the Lady Buffs’ historic run to the state semifinals of the 1A UIL Softball Playoffs. She also hit .539 at the plate with 34 RBIs, 31 runs scored, 17 doubles, four home runs and six stolen bases for Cross Plains offensively to earn Co-MVP honors in District 7-1A.

Pitcher – Avie Faries, Abilene Wylie, Jr.
Faries shined as the Lady Bulldogs’ ace during a dominant junior year in the circle to earn first team all-district honors in District 4-5A. She helped Wylie reach the regional finals for the first time in 20 years by racking up a 16-9 record with a 3.37 ERA and 187 strikeouts in 157⅔ innings pitched.
Pitcher – Sunny Groom, Early, Fr.
Groom was one of the Big Country’s biggest breakout stars of 2026, securing the District 8-3A MVP award after recording 105 strikeouts and a 1.76 ERA in 105 innings pitched to help the Lady Longhorns secure a district title.
Catcher – Sutton McClain, Clyde, Sr.
McClain claimed District 6-3A’s Offensive Player of the Year honors after posting a .583 batting average and 1.875 OPS with 40 RBIs, 16 runs scored, 16 doubles, nine home runs and a triple, as well as a .997 fielding percentage as one of the Big Country’s most elite defensive catchers.
Catcher – Rebekah Cunningham, Haskell, Jr.
Cunningham tallied a .466 batting average and 1.364 OPS while also racking up 36 runs scored, 33 RBIs, nine doubles, four home runs, three triples and four stolen bases stolen bases to help the Maidens reach the 2A DII regional semifinals
First Base – Bree Lewis, Coahoma, Sr.
Lewis was an anchor at the top of the Bulldogettes’ loaded lineup and a defensive stalwart at first base, finishing a strong senior season batting .487 with 37 runs scored, 33 RBIs, six doubles, four home runs, a triple, a 1.273 OPS and four stolen bases.
Second Base – Tatiana Garcia, Anson, Fr.
Garcia enjoyed a breakout freshman year hitting .469 for the Lady Tigers with 30 runs scored, 19 RBIs, eight stolen bases, eight doubles, five home runs, a triple and a 1.366 OPS.
Shortstop – Kyleigh Caperton, Early, Sr.
Caperton — a first team all-district selection at shortstop for the District 8-3A champion Lady Longhorns — posted a .565 batting average and 1.777 OPS with 35 runs scored, 22 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, seven home runs, five triples and three doubles.
Third Base – Brynlee Stocks, Haskell, Jr.
Stocks posted a .521 batting average and 1.542 OPS with 37 RBIs, 33 runs scored, 11 doubles, six triples, four home runs and six stolen bases to help the Maidens reach the 2A DII regional semifinals. She also shined in the circle, finishing the season with a 7-0 record, 52 strikeouts and a 2.95 ERA in 57 innings pitched for Haskell.
Corner Infield – Landry Barron, Cross Plains, So.
Barron was a major reason why the Lady Buffs battled all the way to the Class 1A state semifinals by hitting .459 with a 1.366 OPS 18 doubles, four home runs and a triple to earn District 7-1A Offensive MVP honors.
Middle Infield – Lauryne Hobbs, Eastland, Jr.
Hobbs received first team all-district honors in District 8-3A after a standout junior season in which she hit .543 with 33 RBIs, 26 runs scored, 11 home runs, five triples, three doubles, five stolen bases and a 2.019 OPS.
Outfield – Kenleigh George, Merkel, Fr.
George thrived as an everyday starter in the outfield during a breakout freshman year for the Lady Badgers where she hit .451 with 40 runs scored, 28 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, 12 doubles, a home run and a 1.107 OPS.
Outfield – Makayla Rangel, Snyder, Sr.
Rangel helped Snyder win the District 5-4A title by posting a .381 batting average and .992 OPS with 46 runs scored, 38 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, 13 doubles, four triples and a home run.
Outfield – Izabella Frankfort, Cisco, Sr.
Frankfort was named a TGCA All-State pick and a first team all-district selection after recording a .480 batting average and a 1.142 OPS with 52 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 11 RBIs, six triples and five doubles during the Lady Loboes’ run to the 2A DI state semifinals.
Utility – Jaylee Lowe, Hawley, Jr.
Lowe earned District 8-2A’s Co-Newcomer of the Year award as versatile threat both at the plate and in the circle. She posted a 1.50 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched for the Lady Cats, while also hitting .597 with 53 RBIs, 36 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 15 doubles, 13 home runs, a triple and a 2.074 OPS.
All-Big Country Softball – Second Team
Pitcher – Kaydence Allen, Brownwood, Jr.
Allen recorded 11 wins in the circle for the Lady Lions while also tallying a 2.66 ERA and 203 strikeouts in 134⅓ innings pitched while also batting .375 with 28 RBIs, five home runs, six doubles and two triples offensively.
Pitcher – Jayden Nunez, Tuscola Jim Ned, So.
Nunez was one of the Big Country’s most versatile players in 2026, shining for Jim Ned in the circle with a 3.05 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched while also hitting .509 with 39 RBIs, 19 runs scored, 20 doubles, six triples, five home runs and a 1.461 OPS.
Pitcher – Maddie Roach, Forsan, Sr.
Roach earned District 5-2A Co-MVP honors after tallying a 3.80 ERA and 83 strikeouts through 68 ⅓ innings pitched for Forsan, while also hitting .495 with 43 runs scored, 37 RBIs, 18 doubles, four triples and three home runs during a sensational senior season.
Catcher – Bryanna Munoz, Colorado City, Jr.
Munoz was recognized as the District 6-2A Defensive Player of the Year and a TGCA All-State pick for Colorado City who hit .418 with 34 RBIs, 41 runs scored, 14 doubles, 10 home runs, a triple, 10 stolen bases, a 1.322 OPS and a .943 fielding percentage.
First Base – Jamie Vassar, Early, Jr.
Vassar was one of the Big Country’s most consistent power hitters in 2026, batting .558 with 32 runs scored, 24 RBIs, nine stolen bases, six home runs, three doubles, two triples and a 1.838 OPS to help Early clinch a District 8-3A championship.
Second Base – Avery Ibarra, Snyder, Jr.
Ibarra finished a strong junior season at second base for the Lady Tigers hitting .396 with 33 runs scored, 32 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, 10 doubles, four home runs and a 1.088 OPS.
Shortstop – Lily Bailey, Hawley, Sr.
Bailey boasted a .571 batting average and 1.782 OPS with 37 runs scored, 24 RBIs, 12 doubles, eight triples, four home runs and 17 stolen bases to cap off a strong senior season for the Lady Cats.
Third Base – Emery Doporto, Coahoma, Sr.
Doporto shined defensively and was a constant threat on the basepaths, racking up 23 stolen bases during Coahoma’s run to 3A DII UIL State Championship game to go along with 48 runs scored, 44 RBIs, 16 doubles, five home runs, a triple, a .475 batting average and a 1.365 OPS.
Outfield – Giselle Borrego, Snyder, Sr.
Borrego capped off an impressive high school career by hitting .424 as a senior with a 1.049 OPS, 54 runs scored, 44 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, 14 doubles, four triples and a home run to help the Lady Tigers reach the regional semifinals of the 4A DI playoffs.
Outfield – Paisley Anderson, Hermleigh, Fr.
Anderson locked up TGCA All-State honors as well as District 6-1A Co-Newcomer of the Year honors after hitting .450 with 33 runs scored, 28 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, six doubles, five triples and two home runs for Hermleigh during a breakout freshman season.
Outfield – Abby Hoffman, Clyde, Jr.
Hoffman shined in the Lady Bulldogs’ outfield hitting .517 with a 1.232 OPS, 40 runs scored, 16 RBIs, 10 stolen bases, 10 doubles, a home run and a triple.
Outfield – Brookelyn Homen, Merkel, So.
Homen shined in center field for the Lady Badgers during a strong sophomore season in which she hit .412 with a .OPS, 47 runs scored, 39 RBIs, 11 doubles, five triples, two home runs and 14 stolen bases as well as a .909 fielding percentage.
Designated Player – Mia Clemmer, Coahoma, Sr.
Despite missing a majority of the regular season due to injury, Clemmer stepped up with several clutch at-bats in high-leverage situations during Coahoma’s run to the 3A DII UIL state title game, hitting .500 with 18 RBIs, seven doubles, three home runs, a triple and a 1.575 OPS to earn TGCA All-State honors.
Utility – Paige Scheets, Haskell, Sr.
Scheets was a high-impact player for the Maidens in the circle — sporting a 6-2 record with a 3.88 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 70⅓ innings pitched — and at the plate, where she hit .515 with 31 RBIs, 20 runs scored, 10 doubles, two home runs, two stolen bases and a 1.348 OPS.

Pitcher – Kaylee “KK” Gonzalez, Abilene High, So.
Gonzalez showed immense potential as Abilene High’s No. 2 pitcher in her sophomore season, tallying a 5-4 record in the circle with a 2.84 ERA and 64 strikeouts through 69 innings pitched. She also hit .402 with a .974 OPS, 32 RBIs, 22 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple and a home run for the Lady Eagles offensively.
Pitcher – Paige Wilson, Tuscola Jim Ned, Fr.
Wilson posted a 6-1 record in the circle with 81 strikeouts and a 3.78 ERA and 81 strikeouts through 64⅓ innings pitched during a breakout freshman season for the Lady Indians.
Catcher – Andie Simpson, Early, So.
Simpson has quickly become one of the Big Country’s best backstops, hitting .467 as Early’s starting catcher with 27 RBIs, nine runs scored, four doubles, three triples, two home runs and a 1.248 OPS
Catcher – Sirena Flores, Merkel, Jr.
Flores was recognized as District 6-3A’s Catcher MVP after hitting .485 for Lady Badgers and racking up 27 RBIs, 26 runs scored, 14 doubles, four home runs, three triples, four stolen bases and a 1.351 OPS during Merkel’s run to the area round of the 3A DI playoffs.
First Base – Izabella Rocha, Abilene High, So.
Rocha was one of the Lady Eagles’ top hitters during their run to the 5A DI regional finals, tallying a .400 batting average and .944 OPS with 27 runs scored, 23 RBIs, seven doubles, a triple and nine stolen bases.
Second Base – Payton Allred, Clyde, Sr.
Allred was a highly productive bat and an elite defender who made appearances at several positions to claim District 6-3A’s Utility Player of the Year award after hitting .468 with 40 runs scored, 16 RBIs, 13 doubles, four triples, a home run, five stolen bases and a 1.347 OPS.
Shortstop – Hannah Casey, Winters, Sr.
Casey was named District 7-2A MVP after a strong senior season for the Lady Blizzards, hitting .735 with 37 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, 13 doubles, six triples and a home run.
Third Base – Aubrey Malcuit, Cisco, Jr.
Malcuit made the most of her 20 games played for Cisco during the Lady Loboes’ run to the 2A DI state semifinals, finishing the season with a .448 batting average, 29 runs scored, 20 RBIs, seven doubles, three home runs, two triples, two stolen bases and a 1.285 OPS.
Middle Infield – Lauren Walker, Tuscola Jim Ned, Jr.
Walker earned District 6-3A’s Co-Defensive MVP award after tallying a 9.38 fielding percentage at shortstop while hitting .421 and adding 25 runs scored, 21 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, 12 doubles, three triples and a 1.042 OPS for the Lady Indians offensively.
Corner Infield – Katie Salazar, Westbrook, So.
Salazar took home District 5-1A’s Offensive MVP award after hitting .538 with 48 runs scored, 46 RBIs, 34 stolen bases, 18 doubles, six triples and five home runs for Westbrook.
Outfield – Pearson Hearne, Cisco, Sr.
Hearne was a major postseason contributor for Cisco, hitting .440 with 23 runs scored, 16 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, 10 doubles, two home runs, one triple and a 1.203 OPS for the 2A DI state semifinalists.
Outfield – Caroline Mullin, Hico, So.
Hico helped the Lady Tigers claw their way to a District 15-2A championship by hitting .469 with a 1.383 OPS, 26 RBIs, 23 runs scored, 22 stolen bases, four home runs and four doubles during a standout sophomore season.
Outfield – Taelynn Oden, Colorado City, Sr.
Oden took home the District 6-2A Offensive Player of the Year award after hitting .364 with a 1.264 OPS, 45 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 12 home runs, 11 doubles, three triples and seven stolen bases for the Lady Wolves.
Utility – Kayme Elrod, Anson, Jr.
Elrod tallied a 7-4 record in the circle with 83 strikeouts and a 2.78 ERA in 55⅓ innings pitched for the Lady Tigers while also batting .405 with a 1.297 OPS, 20 runs scored, 16 RBIs, three stolen bases, three home runs, three doubles and a triple offensively.
