The Marine Trades Institute (MTI) will host “Crafted for a Cause,” an island-themed fundraiser, from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21 at Les Cheneaux Distillers.
According to school officials, all proceeds from the event will directly benefit the MTI Student Enrichment Fund. This fund supports equipment purchases, field trips and professional development opportunities for MTI students.
“This evening is about celebrating over two decades of tradition, showcasing our students’ incredible talent, and supporting future marine technicians and carpenters,” said Tom Coates, development director at MTI, in a community announcement. “(Crafted for a Cause) provides us with an opportunity to come together as a community to make a meaningful impact for both our school and the next generation of the marine industry workforce.”
The evening will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, live music, boat and engine displays, student projects, raffles and prizes, including for “Best Island Outfit.” Thanks to a 1:1 matching gift from a local family, ticket sales will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $3,000.
