In a release from Angelo State, officials state it will be the new dean’s job to plan, organize and direct the business college’s three academic departments offering 20 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs. That will also include ASU’s commercial aviation and air traffic operations program and the Air Force ROTC Detachment 847.

Aboulnasr will also oversee curriculum and faculty development, along with accreditation compliance for departments. Those include accounting, economics and finance; Aerospace Studies/ROTC; Management and Marketing.

“Dr. Aboulnasr brings many years of administrative leadership experience from a very successful program,” said Dr. Don Topliff, ASU provost and vice president for academic affairs. “His community involvement and faculty development expertise also make him the right person to lead the Norris-Vincent College of Business.”

Aboulnasr has been at FGCU since 2006, starting as chair in 2014. In that time he led retention efforts that paid off in a 19 percent enrollment increase in the marketing major and a 31 percent increas in the marketing minor.

Aboulnasr holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master of business administration from American University in Cairo, Egypt, and a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Houston.

Widely published, he has earned recognition as well with an Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Society of Leadership and Success, as well as numerous other awards and honors, the media release said.
