Last week, we rounded up some of Abilene’s most popular Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants, ranging from long-time community staples to new modern dining concepts captivating the area.
Then we asked our readers to pick their favorite and vote to determine which Abilene Tex-Mex spot is the best.
After a long week of voting and almost 500 participants, the poll has now closed, and we officially have a winner.
With 158 votes (33%), Abilene’s Casa Herrera has taken the crown as Abilene’s best Abilene Tex-Mex spot.
Abuelos came in second place in the poll with 23% of the votes, and Monterrey Restaurant placed third with 14% of the votes.
Founded in 1974 by Chris and Liz Herrera, Casa Herrera has served as a cornerstone of Abilene’s dining scene for over half a century, offering authentic Mexican cuisine and hospitality.
Located at 4109 Ridgemont Drive, the restaurant’s menu includes many Mexican classics, including beef fajitas, hand-rolled enchiladas smothered in queso, crispy tostadas and their beloved house margaritas.
