Abilene Christian football slides in FCS Top 25 after road loss to Southern Utah

Abilene Christian took a tumble in the latest edition of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll was unveiled Monday.

The Wildcats fell to 4-4 this season after a 31-24 road loss against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, dropping to 3-1 in United Athletic Conference play so far this year.

ACU — which entered its Week 8 game against Southern Utah ranked No. 13 — fell 10 spots in the rankings after its loss to the Thunderbirds, sliding to No. 23 in the newest version of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25.

Abilene Christian debuted at No. 16 in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll, and the Wildcats have climbed to as high as No. 13 this season.

ACU now enters an off week, when the Wildcats will prepare for their next major UAC matchup in early November.

No. 23 Abilene Christian (4-4, 3-1) will return to action and resume its UAC conference slate when the Wildcats take on the No. 3 Tarleton State Texans (8-0, 4-0) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Wildcat Stadium in Abilene.
