When Day 3 of the NFL Draft begins, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves in a very strong position, with the 112th, 114th, and 137th picks in the fourth round and the 218th pick in the seventh round. Dallas can try to trade back and gain more picks or stay and take the best players still available in the draft. They still have holes to fill on the defensive side of the football, but they can also use some reinforcements on the offensive side.
Here’s a list of the best players on the defensive side of the football that the Cowboys could select.
Best Defensive Players Still Available
Jermod McCoy, Cornerback, TennesseeReports regarding McCoy’s knee have kept teams at bay, but we’ve seen the Cowboys take chances on players like this in the past. McCoy was viewed by some draft experts as the best cornerback in the draft, and taking him this late and redshirting him for the 2026 season could be an option. Though it all depends on whether they truly believe he can come back from the injury.
Malik Muhammad, Cornerback, TexasThe Cowboys had Muhammad in as one of their 30-visits before the draft and could opt to take him in the fourth round when they’re on the clock. He would give Dallas another quality cornerback who can play both inside and on the boundary.
Kamari Ramsey, Safety, USCRamsey was another prospect the Cowboys had in for a 30-visit ahead of the draft. The Cowboys still need to add a body at the safety position. Ramsey has the skills to make plays on the football and help in the running game.
Zakee Wheatley, Safety, Penn St.Wheatley was a good player during his time at Penn St. He’s good in coverage and makes plays on the football while it’s in the air. He’s rarely out of position, but needs to work on tackling to be a quality safety in the NFL.
Zxavian Harris, Defensive Tackle, Ole MissThe Cowboys wanted more beef on the defensive line; Osa Odighizuwa was too light for Christian Parker’s scheme, and was traded away. Harris doesn’t have the problem. At 330 lbs, Harris is a space eater Dallas can use in the middle of their defensive front.
Best Offensive Players Still Available
Elijah Sarratt, Wide Receiver, IndianaThe Cowboys could use depth behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, and Sarratt is still available. A big-bodied receiver who can beat defenders at the line or scrimmage and jump ball situations. The only issue for teams right now is his top-end speed.
Skyler Bell, Wide Receiver, UConnBell can do almost anything asked of him on the football field, with speed and good route-running technique.
Justin Joly, Tight End, NC StateJoly is one of the more fluid pass-catching tight ends in the draft, but he likes the proper strength and technique to sustain his blocks and will need to work on that in the NFL.
Nicholas Singleton, Running Back, Penn St.Singleton is one of the better pass-blocking running backs in the draft, a skill the Cowboys covet at the position.
