Twitter Reacts: Cowboys fans, media weigh in on Winters and Barham

It was a long night for the Dallas Cowboys front office, even more so for their fans, as both waited until the third round before they were on the clock. During that time, the Cowboys saw some of the top cornerbacks and linebackers fly off the board in the second round. As the linebackers came off the board, Dallas wasn’t rattled, stayed calm, and proceeded to work on a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to acquire linebacker Dee Winters.

The Cowboys traded their last remaining fifth-round pick to complete the deal, easing the angst among the fans concerned about the team not having a pick in the second round. Here are some examples of how the fan base and national media reacted to the trade Dallas pulled off.

Drafting Michigan LB Jaishawn Barham at No. 92 overall

Once the Cowboys reached the third round, Dallas was finally on the clock and with the 92nd pick in the draft, selected Michigan’s linebacker/edge Jaishawn Barham. Barham gives the Cowboys another weapon on the defensive side of the football. He can line up as an off-ball linebacker or an edge rusher, depending on how Defensive Coordinator Christian Parker wants to use him.

Another solid pick for Dallas, though some fans are still traumatized after the Cowboys’ previous Michigan draft picks, Taco Charlton and Mazi Smith. Which is fair; neither player lived up to their First Round selections. The fan base in Dallas is choosing to believe in the front office and see how things play out, while the media believes the Cowboys found another player who will help this defense.

Here are some of the reactions Dallas received from the Jaishawn Barham selection.

The Cowboys, for the second night in a row, have done a good job in the eyes of the fans and media. They have one more day left in the draft and the chance to add multiple role players to this roster, giving the fans more reasons to be excited about the direction the team is heading.
