2027 5-star LB impressed by Texas A&M's historic NFL draft

Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class continues to make waves after coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing landed a commitment from elite five-star offensive lineman Kennedy Brown on Sunday, as the program’s 13 commits are all considered blue-chip prospects, while one of Elko’s priority recruits, five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson, was mightily impressed after this weekend’s historic NFL Draft success.

After taking part in the OT7 7-on-7 event in Dallas on Saturday, Henderson, speaking with On3 recruiting insider Joseph Hastings, praised the Aggie coaching staff, and after he was asked about Texas A&M’s record 10 players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, it’s clear that Elko’s primary recruiting pitch regarding development and strong relationships is slowly paying off.

“It means a lot,” Henderson stated to AggieYell. “It speaks to not only what they’re doing… whenever they speak with me, it’s a testament to that they really produce guys and get guys to the next level. Whenever you win, you’re going to be having those guys getting to the league. I feel like the trajectory they’re in, they’re going to keep ascending.”

After being hired near the end of the 2023 season, Mike Elko’s dedication to building a program that finally matches the high expectations of a dedicated and passionate Aggie fan base resulted in Texas A&M’s first trip to the College Football Playoff, and has continued to pay off on the recruiting trail.

After landing Kennedy Brown, the Aggies received a prediction to land fellow five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, proving that Adam Cushing is one of, if not the best, offensive line coaches in the country. New linebackers coach Travis Williams is also proving his worth, and while the Miami Hurricanes are the other school to watch for Henderson, the Aggies are looking to close the deal during his official visit on June 5.

“I wouldn’t really say it’s a one-on-one battle,” Henderson said. “I feel like there are a lot of schools that people are undermining. I’m not saying I’m 100% going to any of those schools; those schools are definitely high in my recruitment, but I’m not saying they’re the highest in my recruitment. A lot of people think that. Every single school in my top five is a battle.”

Right now, Miami, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Notre Dame will receive an OV from Henderson, while it was confirmed that LSU is also in the running after the five-star backer made his way to Baton Rouge last week.
