A woman died Thursday, July 24, in a West Akron house fire, the Akron Fire Department reported.
Crews that arrived to the home in the 400 block of Grace Avenue around 5:20 p.m. found heavy smoke showing. They were told a person was in the basement.
Firefighters found an unresponsive woman, who was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, but she did not survive, according to a fire department news release.
Two other people in the single-story home were displaced but were not injured.
The news release said the cause and origin of the fire were undetermined. The incident is under investigation, with no further information available.
