WOOSTER— Ohio’s two-year capital budget, which was signed by Governor Mike DeWine this week, is bringing state funds to projects in Wayne and Holmes counties.
The capital budget bill is for fiscal years 2027 and 2028 and includes a total of $3.7 billion in appropriations.
The local projects highlights include:
Wayne County Fairgrounds Parking Lot Resurfacing, $139,880
Wayne County Fairgrounds Lighting Upgrades, $60,000
Wayne County Fairgrounds Gate and Fence Improvements, $45,240
Wayne County Fairgrounds Buss Hall Improvements, $42,260
Wayne County Fairgrounds Barn Improvements, $27,500
Wayne Center for the Arts, $200,000
Wayne County Memorial Plaza Improvements, $75,000

Boys and Girls Club of Orrville, $280,318

“I am proud to help bring $1.3 million to Wayne County to help fund a total of 16 projects,” said State Representative Meredith Craig (R-Smithville).
State Representative Mark Hiner (R-Howard) also voted in support of Ohio’s Capital Budget bill,
“These are real investments in the communities that families use every day,” said State Senator Andrew Brenner (R-Delaware). “Whether it’s improving fairgrounds, expanding recreational opportunities, supporting agriculture, restoring local landmarks, or creating new spaces for children and families, this funding will leave a lasting impact on our region.”
State Senator Al Landis (R-Dover) also voted for the bill, which secures $4.8 million for community projects throughout the 31st Senate District.
“After working with local leaders and constituents, I’m proud to have secured this funding that I know will strengthen communities across the region,” said Landis. “Whether it’s promoting accessibility at parks or investing in the arts at museums and theaters, these projects benefit the lives of the citizens I represent. I look forward to watching these projects have a positive effect throughout the district.”
