Westerville South's Dajuan Ball voted top high school football sophomore in central Ohio

Westerville South’s Dajuan Ball is the fans’ choice for the top high school football sophomore in central Ohio.

Ball, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive tackle and nose guard, finished first in a poll that accompanied The Dispatch’s look at the top 25 sophomores in the Columbus area entering the 2025 season.

Ball will see time on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats, who are looking to improve on last year’s 5-6 finish. Ball, who received an offer from Toledo in June, had 19 tackles and one tackle for loss as a freshman.

He received 7,964 of 25,492 votes in the poll (31.2%), finishing ahead of St. Charles’ Nick Grilli (4,042 votes; 15.9%), Dublin Scioto’s Dom Clardy (3,559 votes; 14%) and Gahanna Lincoln’s Chase McKee (3,067 votes, 12%).

Columbus Academy’s Gabe Davis-Ray won the fan vote for the top senior in central Ohio entering the season, and Academy’s Reinaldo Perez was voted the top junior the Columbus area.

Here is South’s 2025 schedule: Aug. 22 vs. Dublin Jerome; Aug. 29 at Westerville Central; Sept. 5 at St. Charles; Sept. 12 vs. Dublin Scioto; Sept. 19 at Big Walnut; Sept. 26 vs. Westerville North; Oct. 3 vs. Delaware Hayes; Oct. 10 at Westland; Oct. 17 vs. Harvest Prep; and Oct. 24 at Worthington Kilbourne.
