Watch the video: Soaring seeds make a big splash at Marion County Fair

For the first time, the Marion County Fair held a watermelon seed spitting contest.

Danny Weston won first place. The seed traveled 27 feet.

Louis Iverson came in second, spitting the seed more than 24 feet,.

Julie Blevins placed third with a 22-foot spit.

The contest was held Thursday during the fair. Also featured that day was a mullet contest.

The fair wrapped up Saturday night with a fireworks display.
