NEW PHILADELPHIA — If your looking for a season where just one or two standout players stood out on area high school basketball courts, 2025-26 wasn’t it. Instead, the Times Reporter coverage area was treated to one of the deepest talent pools in recent memory — a winter season defined by 1,000−point milestones, double-double machines, and lockdown defenders across every division.
Now, as the OHSAA tournament brackets reach their boiling point, we’re taking a moment to look back at the individual performances that made this season unforgettable. From the grit shown on the court in Dover and New Philly to the high-octane offenses in Strasburg and Zoar, the excellence was widespread.
We’ve seen the stats and the highlight reels, but now we want to hear from the heart of the community.
It’s time to select the Times Reporter Players of the Year. We invite our readers across the area to cast their vote for the best of the best. Who was the definitive Boys and Girls Players of the Year for the 2025-26 basketball season.
Each of the nominees were first team selections in their respective leagues along with any postseason accolades they received for their efforts during the season.

High school sports fans can vote in two polls this week to pick their choice for the top boys and girls players who turned in the best season on the hardwood for 2025-26 season. The polls run until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.
