Urge Congress to protect education for all children | Letter

Most of us believe that children of all races, backgrounds and genders should have the freedom to learn, be themselves and pursue their dreams. But the MAGA regime denies those beliefs.

It has worked to deny children a quality education based on what they look like or where they live. They fuel divisions between us, re-segregating schools to deny Black and Brown kids opportunities, encouraging laws to erase our history of coming together to push for better futures and exploiting a lack of familiarity with transgender people to exclude kids from health care, school and sports. And it has cut or eliminated programs and services for children with special needs. One of its first priorities was gutting the Department of Education. Now it is planning to further dismantle it.

We must not accept these attacks on education and our children’s futures. By speaking out and rallying our communities to join us in urging our members of Congress to speak up for sound educational practices and to block this latest attack on the Department of Education, we can still make our schools places where children of all races and genders are free to learn all that they have the potential to be.
