COSHOCTON − Unearth a Story is the theme of the annual summer reading program at the Coshocton County District Library.
Related program and activities will feature dinosaurs, archaeology and historical exploration, according to a community announcement. Youth are being encouraged to dig into stories and uncover the past this summer by reading, completing activities, attending programs and using other library resources and services.
Youth may record reading time through paper logs or using the digital platform Beanstack. Participants can earn coupons and prizes for reding time and be entered into a drawing for a grand prize.
A kickoff event for the reading program is from 6 to 7 p.m. May 26, in the Coshocton County Community Room, 637 Chestnut St. The event will feature summer reading registration and other program materials for all ages, door prizes, activities, refreshments and storyteller Kevin Cordi.
Another special event will be the Works Museum presenting the interactive Fairy Tale Science program at 6 p.m. June 18, at the community room.
Similar to previous years, the library is coordinating educational summer youth sessions with Clary Gardens, Roscoe Village, Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum and Pomerene Center for the Arts. Those who attend 10 programs at any location and collect required stamps can earn free admission to the Lake Park Aquatic Center.
The StoryWalk at Clary Gardens for the summer will feature “Dinosaur Day” by Diana Murray.
