Two men have been indicted on charges involving the mugging of a woman in New Rochelle shortly after she had allegedly been raped by one of the men, the Westchester District Attorney’s Office announced.
Destin Medina, 20, and Lonell Alexander, 22, both of New Rochelle, pleaded not guilty April 21 at their arraignments in Westchester County Court.
On the night of Oct. 10, 2025, Medina allegedly raped the woman near New Rochelle High School. He then lured her to another area where Alexander and another person were and the three repeatedly punched and kicked her before taking her purse, according to the felony complaint.
The woman was able to get away and got help from a good Samaritan, the DA’s Office said.
New Rochelle police arrested Medina four days later and Alexander in December.
“The assaults the victim was made to endure were amplified tenfold when she was revictimized over and over again during an unsparing, alleged attack,” District Attorney Susan Cacace said in a news release announcing the indictment. “I am proud of her bravery and composure in coming forward to share her story with the police, and I will honor this bravery by doing everything in my power to hold these defendants accountable for what they allegedly did to her that day.”
Both men are charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault, felonies punishable by up to 15 years and seven years, respectively. Medina is additionally charged with first- and third-degree rape, both felonies, and forcible touching, a misdemeanor. First-degree rape carries a prison term of up to 25 years.
They were each released on bail and are due back in court in July.
The DA’s Office did not provide any information about the third person or whether they have been charged.
