The Westchester Children’s Museum, a favorite destination for many families and school field trips, is celebrating 10 years of play-based learning in the historic North Bathhouse on the Playland boardwalk in Rye.

Since 2016, the rotating exhibits have provided children and their families hands-on, interactive STEAM-based opportunities to build, design and explore topics ranging from science to the arts.

A new edition called “Color in Motion” features a trio of shining spotlights that cast colorful, layered shadows on the wall as children move.

The familiar toddler beach play space fosters early childhood development giving little ones a chance to crawl and climb safely. With the help of a fundraising campaign, there’s plans to upgrade the space to a reimagined sensory rich seaside themed gallery.

The museum also offers a robust programming schedule including daily story time and music and movement sessions. There’s also themed events on weekends and special occasions like the upcoming “May the 3rd Be With You” intergalactic adventure with a lightsaber making craft, a costume contest and characters from a far away galaxy.

The  Westchester Children’s Museum is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information visit discoverwcm.org
