Only 7,861 voters cast ballots during the early voting period that ended Tuesday, April 28 – the lowest early voting turnout in Lubbock County since at least 2006, according to data provided by the Lubbock County elections office. For context, 26,103 people participated in early voting in the 2024 municipal election.
The first day of early voting in Lubbock County brought issues with malfunctioning voting machines in some locations, prompting county officials to temporarily pivot to emergency voting protocols at some sites and extend early voting hours later during the period.
