Severe weather is expected to impact the Greater Cincinnati area this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers and thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon and evening on Tuesday, June 17. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
A flood watch has been issued for the southeastern portion of the forecast area. However, the watch does not include Cincinnati at this time.
Cloud coverage and rain will keep temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s on June 17.
Thunderstorms are also expected at night on Wednesday, June 18, into the morning of Thursday, June 19. The greatest severe weather threat will occur between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., per the NWS.
Some of these storms may be severe and could produce large hail. Damaging winds will be the primary threat but there is a lower chance of a tornado.
Wednesday’s highs will be in the lower to mid-80s, and dewpoints in the lower to possibly mid-70s.
Showers with a chance of thunderstorms will continue on Thursday, June 19. Areas near and southeast of the I-71 corridor will have a greater chance of thunderstorms. But the chance for strong to severe storms remains low.
Temperatures will be a little cooler than Wednesday, with dewpoints dropping to the mid-60s.
Muggy conditions will persist into the weekend. Temperatures will be near 90 by Saturday, June 21, and will climb to the lower to mid-90s for Sunday, June 22, and Monday, June 23. This may lead to a heat advisory, forecasters state.
