Greg Lam

Age: 52

Key issues:

Background: “Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, my family and I have lived in Dubin for 16 years. I earned my undergraduate degree at Yale University, medical degree from the University of Rochester, a Master of Health Sciences from Duke University, and an M.B.A. I performed research fellowships at the National Institutes for Health and Ohio State University, and have completed additional clinical training at Harvard and the Cleveland Clinic. As a cardiologist with OhioHealth, I direct OhioHealth’s Cardiometabolic Clinic and have been named a central Ohio ‘Top Doctor’ for 12 consecutive years. I also hold leadership positions with numerous local and statewide nonprofit organizations.”

Why are you the best candidate? “I bring a unique blend of medical expertise, business leadership and community service that prepares me to serve Dublin with both respect for our heritage and a vision for our future.

“I understand the critical link between public health policy and strategic partnerships to build stronger communities. My work with the Health Policy Institute of Ohio and the Ohio Commission on Minority Health — along with my experience in regional business development and start-up companies — have equipped me with technical knowledge and innovative perspective to tackle complex challenges with creativity and discipline.

“Beyond medicine, I have led statewide nonprofit organizations such as the Ohio Institute of Communities of Color and the Ohio Asian American Health Coalition, bringing diverse voices together to improve health equity, protect our environment and strengthen communities. I’ve led medical missions abroad and mentored Boy Scouts and medical students here at home, always guided by the values of responsibility, humility and compassion.

“I believe every resident deserves a voice in shaping Dublin. By combining proven leadership with increased civic engagement, I will bring fresh perspectives, innovative solutions and a passion to keep Dublin vibrant, inclusive and sustainable for generations to come.”

John G. Reiner

Age: 76

Key issues:

Background: John Reiner, president of Oakland Nurseries and Dublin City Councilman, has guided one of central Ohio’s most respected family businesses for decades, expanding it into a multi-division enterprise in retail, landscaping and large-scale development. A U.S. Army veteran and distinguished military graduate, he earned a bachelor’s degree in government and international affairs from Ohio State University and completed continuing education at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. As a registered landscape architect and urban planner, John blends business, service and played a major role in Dublin’s future.

Why are you the best candidate? “As both a business leader and longtime public servant, I bring the vision and dedication needed to keep Dublin moving forward. I have authored and implemented some of the most original and forward-thinking laws in the United States regarding urban beautification and land use, always with the benefit of Dublin’s citizens in mind. Drawing from ordinances around the world, with research provided by Ohio State University and the Department of Natural Resources, I worked to translate best practices into local policies that improve quality of life.

“As an urban planner, I participated in the redevelopment of Historic Dublin and the now-iconic Bridge Street Corridor, including the world’s longest S-curve pedestrian bridge. I always dreamed of a walkable city and am proud that Dublin’s progress is now recognized by leading planners in New York and New Jersey as one of the finest projects of its kind in the U.S.

“One of the greatest gifts to any city is long life and good health. Today, Dublin residents live over 13 years longer than the average Ohioan. With over 150 miles of trails, one of the first health centers, and Blue Zone initiatives, Dublin is leading the way in health and livability.”
