Streetsboro City Council is looking to appoint a new member after its Ward 4 representative resigned.
Lisa McDaniel, elected in 2023 to serve Ward 4, submitted her letter of resignation at a recent council meeting. Although McDaniel’s resignation was announced at council’s Nov. 10 meeting, her letter was dated Nov. 5.
McDaniel stated in her letter that her family is moving to Stow.
“Though I had been willing to remain on council through November 10th, our timeline has moved up unexpectedly, and we have begun our move,” her letter stated. “Effective immediately, I will no longer be serving on Streetsboro City Council. Thank you for understanding.”
Letters of interest may be sent to Caroline Kremer, Clerk of Council, at council@cityofstreetsboro.com or in person at 555 Frost Road in Streetsboro. Council must make the appointment by early December, and Council President Justin Ring said the board hopes to interview candidates and make the appointment at its Nov. 24 meeting.
To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Streetsboro’s Ward 4; age 23 or older; maintain residence in the ward throughout the term; and be available for Monday meetings. Applicants should check the city’s ward map on Streetsboro’s website to ensure they fulfill the residency requirement.
Since Nov. 24 is the first scheduled council meeting after results of the Nov. 4 general election are certified, and Streetsboro’s charter states that terms begin as soon as results are certified, Councilmen Jon Hannan, Steve Michniak and Mike Lampa are expected to take the oath of office at that meeting.
