When will Cincinnati public pools open? Everything to know

With summer rapidly approaching, Cincinnati’s public pools and aquatic centers are opening up for the season.

Public pools across the city typically open on Memorial Day, but most will open a little later this year due attendance trends, historical weather patterns, operational readiness, staffing considerations, and the Cincinnati Public Schools calendar, according to Cincinnati Recreation Committee spokesperson Chris Pike.

Two pools opened May 30 due to forecasted high temperatures, but the remaining 21 pools will open June 6, according to the Cincinnati website.

To check if your local pool is open due to weather or other reasons, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission recommends visiting the commission’s social media or calling the specific pool before heading out to the pool.

All Cincinnati public pools will be open by Saturday, June 6,except for the Mount Auburn pool, which will not open for the 2026 season.

The Mount Auburn pool has training through June and closes July & August for maintenance and cleaning, according to Pike. This is nothing new, he said.

The 23 public pools will close for the season on Saturday, Aug. 8.
