WILLIAMSVILLE — Pleasant Plains senior Raelyn Brammer drummed up one corner kick after another.
The Cardinals finally hit the motherload on the ninth attempt in a 2-0 victory over Rock Island Alleman in the Class 1A Williamsville Supersectional for their first girls soccer state berth since 2023 and third in program history on Monday, June 1.
Plains (25-0-2) meets Johnsburg in the state semifinals at North Central College in Naperville on Thursday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Glen Carbon Father McGivney faces Elmhurst Timothy Christian in the preceding semifinal at 5:30 p.m. The championship game is Saturday, 2:30 p.m.
Brammer sailed her corner kick assist just over the goal keeper’s reach before senior teammate Caroline Willenborg converted on the open net with 17 minutes left in the second half.
Brammer then scored herself on an ensuing corner kick seven minutes later, incidentally her second such coup this season at Paul Jenkins Field.
