Stark County-area high school boys basketball power poll rankings, Feb. 16

As the regular season nears its end and tournament paths are locked in, let’s look at how area high school boys basketball teams stack up in a Greater Canton power poll. 

Massillon remains king of the jungle in the big-schools poll, while there is a change at the top in the Divisions IV-VII poll.

Stark County-area boys basketball power poll for Feb. 16 

Big Schools (Divisions I-III) 

1, Massillon (18-1) 

2, Alliance (19-2) 

3, Canton McKinley (17-4) 

4, North Canton Hoover (14-6) 

5, Jackson (13-6) 

Others to consider: Northwest’s season has gone the wrong way. A three-game losing streak has Northwest at 14-7. The area’s leading scorer, Tristan Pennington, isn’t on the roster anymore. Head coach Mike Lower declined to give an explanation. 

Smaller Schools (Divisions IV-VII) 

1, Canton Central Catholic (11-10) 

2, Manchester (16-4) 

3, Carrollton (14-6) 

4, West Branch (13-7) 

5, Lake Center Christian (16-5) 

Other teams to consider: Minerva, in Division IV, has won five straight games to improve to 12-9.
