Sleepy Trump is no Biden. We can all see alarming aging he can't hide | Letters

Trump’s aging on full display

Re “Trump’s age isn’t the same news story as Biden’s decline,” May 30: Ingrid James’ column was an interesting way to spin President Donald Trump’s seeming decline in health.

I would agree that the bruising on his hands may mean nothing. I am 70 and I bruise easily as well. My doctor says that just happens as you age.

What she completely ignores is the falling asleep in meetings consistently. Part of her defense of his erratic behavior is that he has always said “wild things,” really not a sign of stable leadership. Whether it is age or some sort of illness, no one knows.

President Joe Biden’s aging may have been disguised, but Trump’s is on full display, and James seems to think that is a sign that nothing is wrong.

If the administration reported things honestly, maybe we could believe that everything is OK, but as they have not done so in the past and currently, how can we believe anything we are told?

Talk about gaslighting.

An uneven playing field?

Credit unions offer a unique model in the financial services industry.

As not-for-profit, member-owned financial institutions, credit unions often operate differently than banks or other financial institutions, especially in the way we reinvest earnings back into our members and communities.

And while we’re proud of the credit union model and the work we do to serve members and communities across Ohio every day, the banking industry has recently made claims that credit unions enjoy an economic advantage in the industry.

The truth? Banks enjoy several economic advantages that credit unions do not.

For example:

Credit unions are proud of our collective movement and our ability to serve Ohio’s 3.3 million credit union members with flexibility and agility. And we’ll continue to do so.

However, any claims that credit unions enjoy an “unfair advantage” are not only false, but also only serve to highlight the ways in which credit unions often operate at a distinct disadvantage when compared to banks and other financial institutions.
