Severe weather delays Day 3 of OHSAA State Track and Field Championships

COLUMBUS — The OHSAA Jesse Owens State Track and Field Championships have been in a weather delay since 4:45 p.m. due to severe weather and thunderstorm warnings.

The meet will officially resume with the first event, the 400-meter run, at 8:30 p.m. followed by the Division II 3200-meter run finals at 8:40 p.m. Afterwards, the Division III finals will begin on a rolling schedule.

Assuming no more delays, athletes will be competing under the lights at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium until close to 11 p.m.

The Division I field events initially slated for Saturday evening have been pushed to Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.

The remainder of the Division II preliminaries that did not get in before the delay — boys 400-meter dash, boys and girls 300-meter hurdles, 200-meter run and 4×400 — will be reseeded and run on Sunday as timed finals. The Division II finals will begin Sunday as scheduled at 1 p.m.
