Severe thunderstorm warning issued for central Ohio counties

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a severe thunderstorm warning tonight for parts of several central Ohio counties.

The severe thunderstorm warning issued May 19 is for northern Franklin County, including Columbus, Dublin, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Worthington, Westerville, Gahanna and other municipal areas. The warning is in effect until 9:30 p.m., according to the weather service.

Delaware County, northwestern Licking County, southeastern Union County, and northeastern Madison County are also under the warning, the weather service said.

The NWS reports that wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Damage to trees as well as power lines is expected, according to the weather service.
